Chips All In For Bourbon
In the past, Burt’s Chips has partnered with Wychwood Brewery and Guinness to create, Guinness Rich Chilli, and Hobgoblin Spit Roast Steak flavored crisps. They have, yet again, partnered with another beverage company, Jim Beam, to offer Jim Beam Bourbon Whiskey Potato Chips. Like all Burt’s’ snacks, these new crisps are hand cooked and seasoned with natural flavors. For this particular flavor, Burt’s and Jim Beam have incorporated the authentic flavor of Jim Beam Kentucky Straight Bourbon with sweet and smoky BBQ flavors.
Beggin’ For An Alternative
Start-up company, Outstanding Foods, debuted its first product, 100% plant-based Pig Out, in August. Think “bacon chips” but without the actual pork! These “pigless” bacon chips are made from mushrooms, sunflower oil, safflower oil, and various spices. The company debuted with four different flavors: Original, Kansas City BBQ, Chipotle, and Cheddar.
Once You Pop, You Might Be Surprised…
Pringles unveiled a new limited-edition flavor in July which was inspired by the iconic Nashville Hot Chicken dish. The original dish is made with paprika, cayenne pepper, and jalapenos but some online reviewers have said it doesn’t quite match up to the original taste of Nashville Hot Chicken. Pringles exclusively launched their new Nashville Hot Chicken flavored chips in Dollar General stores for a limited time.
The Cauliflower Craze
Consumers are going crazy for cauliflower and FROM THE GROUND UP is all over this trend with their recent launch of cauliflower-based crackers and pretzels. Both products are also made from cassava flour and vegetable blend powders sourced from real veggies. These little crackers and pretzels are jam-packed with vitamins A, C, D, E, B1 and B6, and are Non-GMO Project Verified, Certified Gluten-Free, and vegan. The crackers are available in three flavors – sea salt, cheddar and nacho – and the pretzels are sold in sticks and twists variants.
Certified Amazing
Safe + Fair Food owners, Dave Leyrer and Pete Najarian, found themselves frustrated by the lack of safe and allergy-free foods for their children and set out on a mission to create a healthy and almost completely allergen-free product (free from five of the eight top allergens). In September, the company added two more flavors of Popcorn Quinoa Chips to their portfolio: Sweet & Salty Kettle, and Sweet Sriracha. This new product line is Certified Gluten-Free, Non-GMO Project Verified, Kosher, cholesterol-free, and vegetarian. The chips are not fried and are free from artificial ingredients, preservatives, high fructose corn syrup, MSG, and trans-fat.
Seaweed For The Win
The healthy-snack kick continues with Nora Seaweed Tempura Chips. Debuting through online retailers in September, Taokaenoi Food and Marketing PCL of Thailand launched three tasty flavors: Crispy Original, Original Tempura, and Spicy Tempura. Seaweed snacks are a relatively new concept to US consumers and by creating their product to be more “chip-like” Nora hopes to reach a broader audience wandering down the salty snack aisle.
A New Jerky Has Hatched
Keep your eyes peeled on the performance of Country Archer Jerky Co. because they recently received a very large investment from venture capitalists Monogram Capital Partners. Their newest released products are Hatch Chile Beef Jerky and Citrus Rosemary Turkey Jerky. With 11-12 grams of protein, the Hatch Chile Beef Jerky has a sweet, spicy and smoky flavor, while the all-natural turkey jerky combines savory with citrus notes and a hint of floral aroma.
