They call it the “best innovation conference in the world” and Givaudan was a hit. As the only food and beverage sponsor of Trend Hunter’s Future Festival, some of the world’s largest innovation companies got first-hand knowledge of our “Willy Wonka”-style jobs.
Trend Hunter’s Future Festival took place in Toronto, Canada in early October. Our VAS technology was the star of Givaudan’s two events.
Trend Safari
First up, our Trend Safari. The sold out event hosted interactive workshops paired with inspirational trekking. Our guests got to play flavorist for the day by creating their own tantalizing flavors. In doing so, they were also able to experience the different ways Givaudan utilizes our proprietary VAS (Virtual Aroma Synthesizer) technology and AI-powered ATOM software to enhance product performance and accelerate speed to market.
This included everything from creating a unicorn-flavored milkshake, to rapid prototyping with a tropical-flavored rum and yogurt, to using our new virtual reality tools, to experiencing the Givaudan Citrus Varietal Collection.

“I can get so bogged down with my day-to-day work that it’s easy for me to forget that we get to do every day is pretty cool. Being around people who were not familiar with Givaudan, helping them understand who we are and what we do, and seeing their genuine amazement of our industry and our technology – it made me very proud to be a part of Givaudan and to share the incredible work of our digital tools team.”

Future Party
The Future Party was the buzz of the night. And gave a buzz to all who visited us! Givaudan partnered with Igloo Vision to host a flavor tech demo where guests were swept away into a full 360 degree experience – taking a guided tour through the Citrus Grove at the University of California Riverside (UCR) and smelling citrus aromas from the Givaudan Citrus Variety Collection on our VAS machine.
But it was the Givaudan Citrus Cocktail Experience that was the real star of the show that night at the party. Attendees were able to use our digital technology to discover a Moscow Mule flavor profile that best met their unique flavor needs. The end result was a hand-made, customized Moscow Mule for each guest, made using their predicted flavor profile.
Keynote Speaker: Trekking Matters
The biggest highlight for many of our customers – and for our team – focused on our Givaudan “flavor treks”. Featured in the keynote presentation by Jonathan Brown, Chief Growth Officer for TrendHunter. Jonathan’s presentation, “Innovation Through Ritual”, featured case studies on how the most innovative people productize out-of-the-box thinking within their teams.
Highlighted were our FlavorVision® program and our disciplined approach to FlavorTreks – which inspire innovation through diverse experiences. We were featured with the likes of Adidas, Bacardi, Pepsi and the U.S. Air Force.
